What is Party PooperZ?
Party PooperZ is an awesome chaotic partygame, where you compete against your friends. The fate of tonight’s party theme rests on your shoulders, steal guests and use items to make your party the most popular. Let the battle for the most legendary party begin!
I graduated Game Art at the HKU (University of Arts Utrecht) making the VFX for Party PooperZ. I worked in a team of 6, consisting out of me, Milou Baars (Animation), Mitchell Bekke (3D Art), Chantal van Dinten (3D Art), Valery Huisman (2D Art) and Tymon Versmoren (Dev).
What did I make?
I mainly worked on the VFX, but I also did a lot of game design and other things.
I started with research on how to make effective VFX. The team behind League of Legends has made a beautiful style guide for their VFX, which I got greatly inspiration with.
I set three goals for the VFX of Party PooperZ:
- Clarifies the gameplay
- The items are fun and engaging to use
- Strengthen the game feel
After having made my goals, I also created a process for myself to consistently ensure those principles:
